Practicalities
As most visitors are here on a day trip accommodation and dining options tend to be limited, and many bars and restaurants are part of hotels. Try Melodies Guest House (tel 473/443-9052, fax 443-9093, melodies@caribsurf.com ; US$25-50), a family-run guesthouse just three minutes' walk from the main jetty where rooms are luxurious. The restaurant and bar serves a variety of local food and you can choose to eat either inside or under shady trees on the edge of the sea. There's also Miracle Mart Guest House (tel 473/443-9118, fax 443-9022, jhingram@caribsurf.com ; US$25-50), a small but attractive guesthouse with three clean, comfortable rooms - all good value. The hotel has its own restaurant and superb views of the north Grenadine islands. Also overlooking the harbour is Seaside View Holiday Cottages (tel 473/443-9007, fax 443-9052; US$25-50), an attractive collection of one- and two-bedroom self-catering beachfront cottages, all of them well maintained. There's an on-site supermarket and gift- shop, and the owners will also arrange pick-up charters from Carriacou. An alternative to the island's hotel restaurants is Palm Beach Restaurant (daily 10am-10pm; tel 473/443-9103), whose specialty is seafood. The stunning harbour view also makes this a fine place to enjoy a cocktail or two. Main courses range from US$10 for jerk chicken to US$24 for grilled lobster.
