Carriacou is especially good for reef diving and quieter than Grenada for practising other watersports . Diving, snorkelling, water-skiing and windsurfing are popular on the island and can be arranged through Carriacou Silver Diving Ltd (tel 473/443-7882, ), whose office is in Hillsborough. Offering a range of day and night dives, this company caters for all levels of experience and will also arrange accommodation, island tours and even barbecues. Single dives start at US$38 and day trips are US$130 per person. Arawak Divers in Tyrrel Bay (tel 473/443-6906) offers a similar range of dives and runs day excursions to the Isle of Rhonde and the Tobago Cays. Diving and watersports can also be organized through Tanki's Watersports Paradise Ltd (tel 473/443-8406), who are based at the Paradise Inn on Paradise Beach. One of the most popular places to dive is Sandy Island , just off the coast from Hillsborough, whose stunning beaches and vibrant coral reefs have made it a popular location for television commercials. Sadly, its popularity has also been its undoing as damage from dropped anchors is damaging the coral and eroding the reef.
