Dominica's most-visited natural wonder, the deep Emerald Pool at the base of a 40ft waterfall, is midway between Canefield and Castle Bruce and reached by an easy five-minute walk along a well-maintained jungly pathway whose paved sections date from its original use as a Carib trail. The pool itself is a wonderful spot for a swim, though it can get overly crowded on Tuesdays with cruise-ship passengers. The Emerald Pool is a 45-minute drive northeast of Canefield Airport along a steep road with hairpin turns. You can also hop aboard one of the frequent buses beside Roseau's New Market (EC$2.50). Taxis from Roseau cost EC$50.
