Eating and Drinking
Most restaurants catch their own seafood and will be happy to tell you where and how it was caught. The local specialty, the spindly but huge Anegada lobster , is delicious and worth ordering at least once. For dinner at any of the following it's advisable to call ahead and make a reservation. Anegada Reef Hotel Popular dining spot where hotel guests dine alongside leather-faced boaters for cocktails and a candlelit dinner of grilled fish, chicken, steak and lobster (don't worry, you can still wear your shorts). Main courses start at US$20. The Big Bamboo The North Side tel 284/495-2019. This huge restaurant in Loblolly Bay caters to the beach crowd, with a good lunch and dinner menu - crab cakes, fish and shrimp, ribs, lobster and burgers too. All meals come with rice and fried plantains, while the drink of choice is the Rum Teaser. Cow Wreck Beach Bar and Grill tel 284/495-8047. Wash down conch fritters, lobster salad or Belle's famous lobster with the bar's own Wreck Punch. Serves lunch and dinner. Dotsy's Bakery The Settlement tel 284/495-9667. Dotsy's delicious home-made tarts, breads and cakes are a great way to start the day; or stop by for lunch or dinner - she also serves up sandwiches, pizza, chicken and burgers. Neptune's Treasure Anegada Harbour tel 284/495-9439. The owners catch, cook and serve their own grilled fish and lobster - main courses for around US$20. Pomato Point Restaurant Anegada Harbour tel 284/495-8038. Located at Pomato Point, this hot spot serves lunches and dinners of chicken, ribs, fish and lobster. The daily happy hour is from 5pm to 6pm and there's live music every Wednesday.
