Arrival and Getting Around
The majority of visitors fly to Aruba's state-of-the-art Queen Beatrix International Airport (tel 297/824800), a few kilometres south of Oranjestad. Numerous taxis wait for passengers outside the arrival terminal. If you are staying at one of the smaller hotels or guesthouses in town, the ride will set you back US$9; fares to the hotels along the beach are between US$16 and US$18. Alternatively, De Palm Tours (tel 297/824400) operates an efficient network of air-conditioned motor coaches that take visitors to the major beachfront hotels. Round-trip tickets ($20; about 30 min) can be purchased from the booth at the terminal's baggage claim. Cruise ships dock at the pier in downtown Oranjestad. Taxis are on hand to take you around the island.
