You can take bus #10 from the capital to Eagle Beach , the largest and most popular sandy stretch, offering plenty of shade and watersports activities. Several low-rise hotels nearby allow beach-goers to eat and drink at their restaurants and bars. Divi Winds offers windsurfing and sailing lessons, and rents boards, kayaks and snorkelling gear. A few kilometres north on J.E. Irausquin Boulevard is Palm Beach , known for its luxurious high-rise resorts and more superb watersports. De Palm Tours operates a pier here from which many of their water-based tours and activities originate. The surrounding shallow waters and long stretches of clean sand are very popular with families. It gets crowded on weekends and holidays, during which time food stalls selling local dishes are set up. There are a couple of diversions in the area if you're looking to take a break from the beach. Naturalists will delight in exploring the tropical enclosures of the nearby Butterfly Farm (daily 9am-4pm; US$10, US$5 children) located on J.E. Irausquin Boulevard across from the Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort . The small garden is home to many different types of plants and over forty species of butterflies, including the large-winged blue morpho. Interesting guided tours along the path provide insights into the life cycle and ecological importance of the butterfly. Around the corner, bird enthusiasts will enjoy the Bubali Bird Sanctuary , a small marshland sheltering hundreds of species of migratory waterfowl. A viewing platform atop a tower provides the only vantage point from which to observe the birds, which include terns, herons, troupials, cormorants and coots.
