Also known as Ao Pudsa, AO TUB TIM is a small, slightly scruffy white-sand bay sandwiched between rocky points. It feels secluded, but is only a short stroll from Ao Phai. Tub Tim (tel 01/218 6425; $5-40) has everything from simple bamboo huts through to air-conditioned bungalows, while Ao Pudsa 's huts (tel 01/239 5680; $5-10) are fairly basic, but you can change money and buy ferry tickets here. Songthaews from Na Dan pier cost B20, or you can walk it in about thirty minutes. Clamber up over the next headland to reach Samet's smallest beach, AO NUAN . The atmosphere here is less commercial than the other beaches, and the mellow restaurant of the Ao Nuan has some of the best veggie food on the island. The huts are simple but idiosyncratic ($5-10) and usually lamplit at night, though electricity is available. The rocky beach is not great for swimming, but Ao Tub Tim is only five minutes' walk away. A songthaew from Na Dan costs B25.
