Beyond the turn-off for Khlong Phu waterfall, the main road passes signs for PSS bungalows and then for KP; take either one of these signed tracks to get down to the southern stretch of Hat Khlong Phrao . If you're on public transport, a songthaew ride from Hat Sai Kaew to KP bungalows costs B20. The beach here is long, partially shaded by casuarinas and can get a bit rubbish-strewn. PSS (under $5) occupies the southern bank of the northern khlong and a fair length of the shorefront too. It's fairly rundown, offering the most basic bamboo huts on the island (invest in a mosquito net if you're planning on staying here). Ten minutes' walk down the beach, KP (tel 01/863 5448; under $40) is efficiently run and popular, with two dozen bamboo huts in a coconut grove. You can rent motorbikes here (B500 a day). South across the next khlong (impassable except by swimming) and round a headland, the main road skirts the back of a couple more bungalows, which, though technically also in Hat Khlong Phrao, are actually on a completely different little white sand bay, which is palm-fringed and secluded. Magic (tel 01/219 3408; under $40) stands right on the beach and has both simple bamboo huts and larger wood bungalows. The adjacent Chokdee (tel 01/219 3814; $5-40) sits on a rocky promontory and is similar but a bit pricier.
