Framed by a broad band of fine white sand at low tide, HAT SAI KAEW (White Sand beach) is the island's longest beach and, some would argue, its prettiest too. It is also the busiest and most commercial, with almost twenty different bungalow operations squashed in between the road and the shore. Be careful when swimming off Hat Sai Kaew, as currents are very strong here. Songthaews take about fifteen minutes to drive from the Ao Saparot pier to Hat Sai Kaew. You can rent motorbikes at a couple of roadside stalls in Hat Sai Kaew for B60 an hour or B400 a day; the same places will act as a taxi service. Several bungalows run snorkelling trips to nearby islands, and a dive operator ( kcd_werner@hotmail.com), based at the White Sand Beach Resort, offers Open Water courses for B9000.
