Tiny KO BULON LAE , 20km west of Pak Bara, is not part of the national park, and not quite as beautiful. But a two-kilometre strip of fine white sand runs the length of the east coast and there are good reefs off the east and south shores. Snorkelling gear, as well as boats for island trips can be rented at Pansand, the island's largest and best resort (tel 01/722 0279; $5-20), where accommodation ranges from simple longhouse rooms to swanky clapboard cottages; two-person tents can also be rented for B80 a night. To book a room or find out about off-season boats, contact First Andaman Travel, opposite Queens Hotel at 82-84 Thanon Wisetkul in Trang (tel 075/218035). You can also stay at nearby Moloney/Bulon Resort ($5-10).
