At KO ADANG , a wild island covered in tropical rainforest, the boat pulls in at the Laem Sone park station on the southern shore, where the beach is steep and narrow. There are longhouses (B100 per bed), tents (B100 for two people) and a restaurant here. About 2km west along the coast, there's a small beach lined with coconut palms, and behind an abandoned customs house a trail leads to the small Pirate Waterfall (20min). KO LIPE , 2km south of Adang, is covered in coconut plantations and inhabited by chao ley or sea gypsies (a distinct group scattered around the west coast of the Malay peninsula, who speak their own language and follow animistic beliefs). There are shops, a school and a health centre in the village on the eastern side - from where longtail boats come out to meet the mail boat. There are several simple bungalow outfits (under $10) under shady pine trees by the village, and the chao ley rent longtail boats to the reefs (B100-150 per person). Pattaya Son Resort (under $10), on the other side of the island, is run by the chao ley and has en-suite bungalows on the beach and the adjacent headland and the best food on the island. Tiny Ko Gra, 200m out to sea, also has a beautiful reef. There are two dive centres on the island offering day-trips from B1600.
