Sukhothai, is of little interest to tourists except as a place to change buses for continuing north to Lampang and Chiang Mai, south to Ayutthaya and Bangkok, or west to Mae Sot and the Burmese border. The bus terminal is about 3km east of the town centre. TAT has an office in the town centre at 193 Thanon Taksin (8.30am-4.30pm; tel 055/514341). If you need a hotel in Tak, try the slightly faded Mae Ping at 231 Thanon Mahattai Bamroong (tel 055/511807; under $5).
