Boracay Eating

Eating

Restaurants and bars come and go in Boracay, but you can eat and drink your way up and down White beach almost 24 hours a day. At the northern end and slightly inland is the English Bakery and Tea Room, where, as the name suggests, the fresh bread is excellent, as are the breakfasts and shakes. Mango-Ray Restaurant, near Sea World Dive Centre, roughly in the centre of the beach, has pasta, pizza, sandwiches and barbecue, while next door, in the True Food Restaurant, you can sit on ethnic cushions (there are no chairs) and eat Indian curry and tandoori chicken. Nigi Nigi Nu Noos 'e' Nu Nu Noos is big on seafood and has interesting cocktails (as do many establishments). Charlh's Bar is a small place near Nigi's and has a simple menu and late music. On the beach near Boat Station 3, the Sulu Tha Thai Restaurant serves spicy Thai dishes such as green curry and red curry, while Swiss Inn restaurant has good European dishes, friendly staff and Alp-inspired decor. There are dozens of restaurants around

the Boracay Tourist Centre, including the Diamond Garden restaurant where native dishes such as adobo and opancit (noodles with shrimps) cost around P100-P150. Nearby is the 24-hour Alice in Wonderland Bar & Restaurant. Some of the best food, however, are the snacks cooked al fresco by the locals, who set up portable barbecues on the beach at sundown and cook everything from fresh lapu-lapu and squid to the tasty local bananas, which are excellent baked with brown sugar.
