Practicalities
The usual route to Camiguin is to take a bus from the terminal at Agora Market in Cagayan De Oro east along the coast to Balingoan (88km). From the pier at Balingoan there are hourly (sometimes half-hourly) ferries daily to Benoni from 5am until 4pm. Not all of them are by any means luxurious and at peak times there can be hordes of people trying to get on board. There are also three or four ferries a day to Benoni from Cagayan De Oro itself. about accommodation and climbing Hibok-Hibok. There are six banks in Mumbajao and you can change travellers' cheques at most of them, also service is slow and rates are low. As always, it's best to make sure you have enough cash, either in pesos or dollars. Camiguin Authorized Ticket Agent (tel 08822/387 4000), in the Negros Navigation Office in Benoni, will help you arrange tours, make long-distance telephone calls and book ferry tickets for Manila, Bacolod, Iloilo, Palawan and Bacolod.
