When it's finally completed, the Mahendra Highway from Nepalganj to the far western border post of Mahendra Nagar will be, for Nepal, something of an engineering marvel. Laying down 215km of asphalt was easy; building bridges over the countless streams that dice the route (not to mention spanning the Karnali) has been the real challenge.
