Far West
Until recently, the sheer misery of travelling the Mahendra Highway was enough to deter all but the most dedicated from entering Nepal's remote far west . Now, with the highway all but completed, this once-neglected quarter of the country looks poised to open its doors to travellers. It's still a hell of a haul to get here, but the new highway makes this an up-and-coming route to or from Delhi (which is just ten hours by bus from the far western border crossing). Two of the sights, Bardia National Park and Sukla Phanta Wildlife Reserve , may become serious rivals to Chitwan National Park.
