Moving On
Leaving Daman by public transport can be difficult, as buses passing through are standing room only, and standing on a bus on this road is no fun. Sometimes they're so full they don't even stop. Getting to Kathmandu is further complicated by the fact that only the Sajha bus goes directly there, the others overnighting in Markhu or Shikharkot. Infrequent trucks take on passengers, but nearly all of them are heading south to Hetauda after delivering their cargo to Kathmandu (fully laden vehicles bound for Kathmandu take the safer Prithvi Highway). These transport peculiarities make a good case for walking or biking down instead. Departing from the Rajpath about 500m down from the view tower, a walking trail descends to the western shore of the Kulekhani Reservoir in three to four hours, and continues from there to the Kathmandu Valley. Biking down, you'll probably just take the Rajpath, but for a longer, more adventurous route to the Tarai you could backtrack to the road to Kulekhani and go up and over to Bhimphedi.
