Tour groups bound for Tibet follow the Arniko Highway to Kodari , the only official border crossing from Nepal, and a few individual travellers make the trip up to the border just to see it. Rafting parties also frequently pass this way en route to the Bhote Koshi and Sun Koshi rivers. Trekkers on their way to Jiri , the main trailhead for the Everest region, follow the Arniko Highway for most of its length before heading off on a spectacular side road. There are no scheduled tourist bus services in this area, but express public buses ply both the Arniko Highway and the Jiri road. Note that these services depart from Kathmandu's City (Purano) Bus Park, not the main one at Gongabu; you can also get on at Bhaktapur or Dhulikhel, but don't expect to get a seat. Both these routes make excellent adventures on a bike .
