The morbidly amusing Natural History Museum (daily except Sat 10am-4pm; Rs10) lurks nearby the Manjushri Shrine, on your right as you follow the road from the car park down the south side of Swayambhu hill. Its jumbled collection of stuffed birds and shrivelled animals in old-fashioned display cases looks like it was cobbled together from the trophy rooms of hoary old Rana hunters. The weirdness is fun for its own sake though, and the specimens might give you an idea of what to look for when you get to the mountains or jungle.
