Keep telling yourself: this is not what I came to Nepal for? Still, there are times when you feel like you've eaten a lifetime's worth of lentils and you could just murder a pizza. Many of these places serve wine. Chez Caroline , Baber Mahal Revisited. A classy French cafe/patisserie, serving crepes, quiche, soups and sandwiches for lunch (moderate) and fancier main courses for dinner (expensive). Fire and Ice , Tridevi Marg. Really good pizza from an authentic pizza oven, plus homemade ice cream and other fancy desserts. Moderate. G's Terrace , Thamel North. High-cholesterol Bavarian specialities (would you believe Zwiebelrostbraten ?), popular with Germanics. Moderate. La Dolce Vita , Thamel. Pretty-close-to-the-mark Italian food in a big restaurant on three floors: choose from the trattoria, bar or rooftop terrace. Moderate. Micky Pizza Hut , Thamel Northwest. Small dining room, good atmosphere and pretty good thin-crust pizza. Inexpensive. New Orleans , Thamel Northwest. Improvised but tasty cajun cuisine. Tremendous atmosphere after dark - sort of like an American bar transported to a Nepali courtyard. Moderate. Old Vienna , Thamel. Schnitzel, goulash, crepes and other rich, tasty Austrian dishes. Moderate. Simply Shutters , Baber Mahal Revisited. Upscale bistro with a menu du jour, featuring French and other Continental specialities. Good for a romantic meal. Expensive.
