Malaysia Long-distance Taxis

Long-distance Taxis

Most towns in Peninsular Malaysia have a long-distance taxi rank. The four-seater taxis are generally very reliable and a lot quicker than the buses; they charge fixed-price fares which are 50-100 percent more than the regular bus fare (KL to Butterworth costs RM30, KL to Kota Bharu RM35). You have to wait until the car is full, but this is rarely long in big towns. As a foreigner you may be pressured to charter the whole car (at four times the one-person fare).
