Shimonoseki is packed with restaurants specializing in fugu , but the daily ferry connection with Pusan means that Korean cuisine is almost as popular in the port. There are several restaurants around the Green Mall near the station that specialize in Korean barbecue dishes, called yakiniku , while for fugu head for the parade running parallel to Route 9. Another good area for fish restaurants is Karato. The area around the station has plenty of fast-food options too, with branches of KFC, Lotteria and Mister Donuts in the Sea Mall. The seventh floor of Daimaru department store, connected to the mall, also has a variety of restaurants, all with inexpensive set menus and plastic food displays.
