Getting Around
Laid out on a grid plan, Takamatsu is an easy city to walk or cycle around. Bicycles can be rented at the JR station . Otherwise, you'll find trains and buses perfectly user-friendly, and good for getting to sights outside the city. As well as local JR train services, Takamatsu has the Kotoden network, which uses old-fashioned trains and which is useful for getting to Yashima or Kotohira. Kawara-machi Station, where the Kotoden's three main lines intersect, is beside the Sogo department store at the end of the Tokiwa arcade, while Chikko Station is currently next to Tamano-koen, but will eventually be next to the JR station. Buses for Ritsurin-koen and Yashima run from the stops outside Chikko Station at the top of Chuo-dori.
