The buses listed below are mainly long-distance services - often travelling overnight - between the major cities, and local services where there is no alternative means of transport. For shorter journeys, however, trains are almost invariably quicker and often no more expensive. Himeji to: Tokyo (Shibuya; 1 daily; 9hr). Ise to: Toba (at least 3 daily; 40min). Kyoto to: Fukuoka (1 daily; 9hr 25min); Kanazawa (5 daily; 4hr); Kansai International (hourly; 1hr 45min); Kumamoto (1 daily; 10hr 45min); Nagasaki (1 daily; 11hr); Nagoya (13 daily; 2hr 30min); Osaka (Itami; every 30min; 55min); Tokyo (3 daily; 8hr); Yokohama (1 daily; 7hr 30min). Nara to: Fukuoka (1 daily; 10hr); Tokyo (1 daily; 8hr); Yokohama (1 daily; 9hr). Osaka to: Beppu (1 daily; 9hr); Fukuoka (1 daily; 9hr); Niigata (1 daily; 9hr); Hagi (1 daily; 12hr); Kagoshima (1 daily; 12hr); Kansai International (at least every 15min; 1hr); Kumamoto (1 daily; 9hr); Miyazaki (1 daily; 12hr); Nagano (1 daily; 8hr); Nagasaki (1 daily; 10hr); Osaka (Itami; every 20-30min; 50min); Tokyo (3 daily; 8hr 50min).
