Apart from one small but important art museum, there's not a great deal to see around Yokohama Station . However, this is the city's prime centre for department stores: Mitsukoshi, Takashimaya and Joinus vie for shoppers on the station's west side, above a warren of underground arcades known as "The Diamond"; over to the east, on the other hand, the Sogo, Marui and Lumine stores lord it over "Porta" underground mall. This east side is also home to the city's Central Post Office, the long-distance bus terminal and to Yokohama City Air Terminal (YCAT), while Sea Bass ferries for Minato Mirai and Yamashita-koen depart from a pier behind Sogo . If you're not here to shop or catch onward transport, the area's only real attraction is located on Sogo's sixth floor. Though it may seem an expensive option, the two-room Hiraki Ukiyo-e Museum (daily except Tues 10am-7/7.30pm; Y500) houses one of Japan's most highly rated collections of woodblock prints. Unfortunately, only a small portion of the museum's 8000 ukiyo-e can be displayed during each month-long exhibition. Nevertheless, all the great woodblock artists are represented and there's usually something to capture the imagination of any art enthusiast.
