Labuhan Lombok and On To Sumbawa
The port town of LABUHAN LOMBOK runs ferries to Sumbawa 's Poto Tano (every 45min round the clock; Rp4000) from the ferry terminal, Labuhan Kayangan, at the far end of the promontory, 3km around the south side of the bay or Rp500 by local bemo. Buses run regularly between the ferry terminal and the Mandalika terminal at Sweta (2hr); change at Kopang (1hr) for Praya and the route to Kuta. To the north, buses run to and from Obel Obel and Bayan (2hr) on the north coast via Sambelia; this is the way to go if your first stop on Lombok is Gunung Rinjani. The best place to stay is Lima Tiga, Jl Kayangan 14 (no phone; under $5), about 150m from the town centre on the road to the ferry terminal.
