Kuching - Pontianak, came across this flooded village. journey delayed 3 hours.

Pontianak, shithole... no cheap accomodation,

Equator monument is misplaced and currently they building a new monument at the correct position. Apart for that nothing else to see.

Balikpapan, flew by Batavia Air, nice trip, beautiful scenery of jungle of borneo. Best avoided by budget traveller. Expensive but the oil does give different vibe to the place.

Balikpapan - samarinda. up and down the hills. Interesting bus ride. worth a try.

Samarinda - Be careful of the ojeks, they rip u off like hell. I lost 200,000 rupiah and i knew it was my ojek who took it. Carry dollars or u'll find hard time cashing traveller's cheque. BCA do change it but the rest of the banks sucks. Go after 11, it'll help.
I wanted to go up to mahakam river but guide ask for 400 Euro. they rip u off. shit.. Wanted to do that myself but he threaten me with bird flu and stuff, since i'm a women traveling alone and on budget its better to just leave the place and i;ll be back someday with MONEY to see kalimantan.

Samarinda - Tarakan
Try to fly to tarakan, plenty to see from the top. The mountains, rivers, and etc. soothing for the eyes after horrifying samarinda.

Tarakan - Here i am writing this shit. Stay in Barito hotel. bloody expensive.

Above all, kalimantan is best explored in group of 2 or more. be prepared for the unexpected and get ready plenty of cash and time or it takes u to no where.
