If you're travelling to the Dieng Plateau you'll almost certainly have to change buses at the sleepy hilltop village of WONOSOBO . Buses from the lowlands pull into the southern terminus. If you wish to travel straight on to Dieng, walk up the hill to the junction with Jalan Kyai Muntang: Dieng buses run past here before calling in at the Dieng terminus to the west of town; it's a one-hour journey. An andong (horse-drawn carriage) between the two stations costs Rp1000. There's a helpful tourist office on the alun-alun on the hill (Mon-Thurs 7am-2pm, Fri 7-11am, Sat 7am-12.30pm). If you need to stay, Duta at Jl RSU 3 (tel 0286/21674; under $5), 200m south of the Dieng bus station, is the most popular with backpackers, and the en-suite rooms are extremely comfortable.
