There is an excellent night market on Medan Merdeka on Saturday evenings and every night during Ramadan. Amsterdam Restaurant , Jl Terusan Kawi 2. Huge menu with steak as the speciality but also many Indonesian staples. Moderate to expensive. Asri Dua , Jl Brig Jen Slamet Riadi 14. Has a small menu of good-value Indonesian and Chinese food plus steak and sandwiches in clean, attractive surroundings. Gloria cafe , Jl KH Agus Salim 21-23. Huge Chinese-run eatery serving a wide variety of inexpensive Indonesian and Western dishes. Rindu , Jl KH Agus Salim 29. Centrally located Padang restaurant with a big selection of attractively prepared and displayed food. Toko Oen , Jl Jend Basuki Rachmat 5. This has been a restaurant and ice-cream parlour since 1930 and is a Malang institution. The menu is substantial, with sandwiches, salads, steaks, seafood and Chinese food, all at moderate prices.
