The biggest city on Central Java's southern coast, CILACAP is 170km west of Yogya and sees plenty of tourists, most passing through on their way to and from Pangandaran. The Pangandaran ferry docks at Lomanis port in the northwest corner of the city. The bus station is 1km east of the port. To get between the two, take angkuta #C2 (city minibus). There's an infrequent train service from Cilacap to Jakarta and Surabaya. The train station is just to the north of the town centre. If you need to stay, the Losmen Tiga, Jl Mayor Sutoyo 61 (tel 0282/33415; under $5), has inexpensive, cell-like rooms.
