Located 60km southeast of Surabaya, the port town of PASURUAN is a convenient stopping-off spot close to Bromo on the way to or from Tosari and Wonokitri; buses run every few minutes throughout the day between Surabaya and Pasuruan (1-2hr), and there are daily trains (1hr 30min) from Gubeng station in Surabaya. The main north-coast road is Jalan Raya, with the bus terminal at its eastern end, about 1.5km from the alun-alun. Microlets run direct to Tosari, although there is no sign at the terminal. The train station is just north of Jalan Raya, on Jalan Stasiun. Hotel Pasuruan, Jl Nusantara 46 (tel 0343/424494; $5-10), has a range of rooms , including some with air-con and hot-water, as does Wisma Karya, Jl Raya 160 (tel 0343/426655; under $5). You can eat at the small night market around the alun-alun, or try the inexpensive Indonesian and Chinese food at Rumah Makan Savera, on Jl Raya 92a. The tourist office , Jl Hayam Wuruk 14 (tel 0343/429075), is in the district government offices, Kantor Kapeputan Pasuran. The post office (Mon-Thurs 7.30am-2pm & 3-8pm, Fri 7.30-11.30am & 1-8pm, Sat 7.30am-1pm & 2-8pm), Jl Alun-alun Utara 1, provides Internet access (Rp2500 for 15min). There's a 24hr wartel at Jl Stasiun 11 and exchange facilities at BNI, Jl A Yani 21 and BCA, Jl Periwa 200, 200m west of the terminal.
