A few sites outside the city warrant the effort of reaching them on local buses or bicycles. Closest is the eight-hundred-metre Luoyang Bridge , about 10km east of Quanzhou. Built in the eleventh century, this Song-dynasty masterpiece can easily be reached on one of the many minibuses heading for the small town of Luoyang. Slightly farther away to the south, and also on the route of local minibuses, is the town of SHISHI (Stone Lion), from where you can pick up a ride for the 5km to the beautiful Sisters-in-law Tower overlooking the sea, another Song-dynasty monument. Finally, some 30km to the south of Quanzhou, just outside the town of Anhai, the spectacular two-kilometre-long pedestrian Anping Bridge , built of granite, actually crosses a section of sea. The bridge is over eight hundred years old. For minibuses to all the above destinations, try the small bus station on Wenling Lu, just south of Jiuyi Jie, as well as the long-distance bus station.
