The Chogoria trail is scenically far superior to any of the others, and it's become more popular now that the road around the east side of the mountain has been paved. It's also the longest route, requiring good shoes and probably a plentiful supply of blister pads. A tent is preferable for the trek beyond the park gate. From the eastern side, the hike to the top can be done in three days, but it's easier to allow four or five if you're setting out from Nairobi.
