Costs
Aside from accommodation, the cost of everyday items, meals and transport is higher in Sinai than anywhere else in Egypt, but still cheaper than in Israel or Europe. In the backpacking resorts like Dahab, essentials like bottled water, toilet paper and tampons can be pricey. There are banks in all the main resorts, while US dollars can be exchanged in many shops. Israeli shekels (NIS) are common currency in Dahab and Nuweiba, with an unofficial exchange rate of 1:1 on the GBPE.
