West of the El-Giza Bridge and south of the university belt, Cairo's second largest bus and taxi terminal agitates Midan Giza . Even more chaotic than Tahrir, its seething ranks include buses to the Pyramids; minibuses to Tahrir, Ramses and Heliopolis; and service taxis to Fayoum city, Beni Suef and the Red Sea Coast. A few minutes' walk south is Giza Station . More flyovers funnel traffic onto the Pyramids Road (Sharia al-Ahram), which runs the gauntlet of nightclubs and tourist bazaars for 8km. It was outside a hotel on this avenue that seventeen Greek tourists were shot dead by Islamic radicals, who mistook them for a group of Israelis, in spring 1996. A couple of kilometres before the Pyramids of Giza, Sharia al-Ahram crosses two canals in quick succession; the second one marks the turning (left) for Saqqara.
