A 100-metre-wide channel separates Zamalek and Gezira from the west bank districts of Aguza and Dokki . Being mainly residential and devoid of major "sights", they're only worth considering as a quieter place to stay than central Cairo, or for their nightlife - although you might just have business with certain local institutions. Yet it's typical of Cairo that these prim-looking neighbourhoods have generated as much scandal as the Clot Bey and Abdin quarters once did.
